Even though I don’t agree with Mitt on anything, that’s pretty freaking cute.

Slap Upside The Head: An illustrated LGBT news blog

There are quite a few blogs that just grab any image they can find to image to illustrate an article, but Slap Upside The Head doesn’t settle for that. Slap Upside The Head is an LGBT news blog that illustrates its articles with humorous, satirical, or clever comics.

Run by a 31 year old Canadian man named “Mark,” the blog covers LGBT-related topics such as politics, homophobia, same-sex marriage, and LGBT culture.

Slap Upside The Head has been voted the Best GLBT Blog in Canada for four years in a row at the Canadian Blog Awards.

Ron Paul: Debt Burden Threatens American Families

Last week, as most Americans were celebrating the holidays with family and friends, the Obama Administration announced plans to seek yet another debt ceiling increase in the New Year. While some fiscal conservatives will try to block this increase, their efforts are designed to fail thanks to the procedure set up by the last debt ceiling negotiations. Congress would have to pass a joint resolution opposing the increase, which the president could simply veto. Thus, an additional $1.2 trillion on top of our already unsustainable debt is a foregone conclusion. Our Gross Domestic Product continues to contract and now stands at $14.5 trillion. The debt already far exceeds that and will soon hit the new ceiling of $16.39 trillion.
Everyone in DC acknowledges that the debt is unsustainable, yet few are willing to take serious steps toward addressing it. Politicians in Washington cannot face the fact that the blank checks must stop. Many think we can ignore the mounting debts and deficits and eventually the economy will magically turn around and grow its way out of the mess. If you really understand why the economy is foundering, you understand the burden cannot all be put on the backs of the American people while politicians stick their heads in the sand.

While volunteers were gathering signatures to recall him from office, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was allowed to receive campaign donations of unlimited size. Never one to shy away from talking to rich people, over the last five weeks Walker used this opportunity to raise$1,000,000 from just four donors, and over well $2,000,000 from 33 donors

During his time as governor, Scott Walker has conducted an assault on the middle class in order to make a small number of rich people even richer. While this has given him a big financial advantage for the recall fight, it has not bought him the love of the people of Wisconsin.

Scott Walker is such a dirtbag. I can’t wait for the people of Wisconsin to drive him out of politics forever.

Ranking the Members of the U.S. Senate (According to Their Smiles)

We judge our elected representatives on lots of things: voting record, message consistency, rhetorical ability, charisma. Given all the pageantry of politics, though, it’s sort of shocking that it hasn’t occurred to us to judge them on the thing that pretty well sums up everything else: their facial expressions.
Well, okay, maybe that’s not the best way to judge them. But it’s a funny way. And, courtesy of mandatory congressional portraits and some open APIs, we now have a tool to do it. Read more. [Images: Dan Nguyen/Sunlight Labs’ Congress API]
